I do know of a GOOD local machine shop that does that. Personally, I have absolutely no welding skills so that would be out of the question. As far as gas, what are you talking about exactly? On this kind of setup a premimum mix would be better?
Chopping the head up that much would make me worry about hitting a valve or something. I could take the pistons to the shop and have him match them up I suppose couldn't I?
How much money do you have in mind on this build?
Oh and I know I mentioned, but reliability is one of my main goals out of this build and performance is my next goal.
I think I could reach my goal of maybe 200whp on $4000. But that's not including the transimission (I would want to do a LSD/4.9 FD, and have Bone or Aquafina rebuild it). I'm sure it can be done for cheaper, but idk. And I'd probably run E85 + LOTS of compression. Yeah, you can most likely run 13:1 on 93 and a big cam, but if I ever built a motor, I'd run MORE compression... But maybe on a D15 (crank weighs ~4lbs less, better RS...)....
It's a nice thing to open/port a few oil/water passages in the head to make sure flow is good, but yeah, you would DEFFINATELY need to clay the motor/possibly notch the pistons. P29's or anything with a dome would be a no-go. You also run into problems with the pistons hitting the spark plugs... There's a good thread on shaving the head ALOT and problems associated with it on OneCamOnly.

If I could get 150+ hp out of an a6 by just doing a cam and upping the compression I would be happy. I'm just wanting to get an a6 back in my car like it use to have. Some dummy put a d15b2 in it and it's a huge lack of power compared to the a6.
I/H/E, Nice cam, and 11-12:1 compression and you should be able to hit 150whp no problem. Look at the builds on d-series.org. If your 'B2 is DPFI, swap to MPFI and swap in a Si Transmission, and it should feel alot more like a Si.

D17 crank, rods, pistons, bisi cam, bisi header, bisi cam gear. Shave the head and block down to get comp over 10, plus a tune and you may end up with around 150 maybe 160hp.
D17's have thin rods and a relatively crappy R/S. People have bent/snapped rods revving above like 7-7500rpm. In threads where I've asked about D17 strokers, I've been advised several times not to take it too far over 7000rpm... But I also wonder if it'll make power past that (depends on alot of things though)....
Vitara's + Shaved Rods can be made to work with the D17 crank if you don't mind the pistons coming out of the block....

I've heard mixed things about bisi. Have you dealt personally with his/their products? Not to jack this thread.
I've heard great things about Bisi himself, but I don't like his sales people. They don't provide complete answers to some emails and I don't like their posting style on some forums... But I've never actually bought from them.
@Chico7: Nothing anyone does in the Honda Performance sector is remotely new. All the ideas are taken from somewhere else (like the muscle car community, they know what they're doing).

So yeah back to my build now guys.
Personally i've never heard of bisi so I don't know what to think on that.
I'm a rookie and i've personally never had an engine of my own apart, except for in my automotive classes but that's besides the point.
Explain more about bisi please.
Bisi Ezerioha is a guy out in California that founded the company "Bisimoto". He's well known for building sick SOHC honda's, but also for extracting power out of any motor he touches. He's built several D's and F's that have done 10-second (or better) quarter miles. He sells cams/springs/retainers/cam gears/H2D and H2B conversions/headers/all kinds of stuff.
