Install a Skunk2 Intake Manifold On Your D-Series
(this is very rough right now, its mainly just showing wherehoses etc go)

So during my MPFI Swap i acquired a skunk2 intake manifold.
Below are the labeled locations of where everything plugs in etc.

Tools required/stuff required
10,12,14 mm sockets, wrenchs, speed wrenchs.
Intake manifold gasket
Throttle body gasket for the throttle body used.
*MAP Sensor gasket( if you use a new map sensor. if your tb has one already then dont worry)
go to autozone and pick up some "caps" for valves. they have a variety pack for 6$ that was all i needed
Coolant ( you loose some on the removal or old intake manifold)
Skunk manifold instructions are handy...you can get them via there website

Remove your stock intake manifold by following the helms guide or honda workshop manual. reinstall according to that. this is more or less focusing on where lines, vacuum hoses etc go. the install itself for the manifold is straight forward.

When you have both manifolds off switch the eacv over to the skunk2 manifold and switch the iat sensor over as well.Switch over your throttle body, fuel rail, injectors etc. do not lose any of the spacers etc.
basically take everything from the stock manifold and put it onto the skunk2 one.
once done with that

Remove and throw out your charcoal canister. buhhhh byeee

then

The stock map sensor that is mounted to the firewall, unbolt it and throw that crap out. in my case i was able to hook my map sensor to the spot on my throttle body with my new map sensor. make it go buhhhhh byeeee

before puttin on the intake manifold, take a minute to make sure you understand what goes where. its a tight fit and some wiggeling was required to get it to fit in.

A - cap this off and throw out the charcoal canister etc.
B - This can go to E
C - Cap this off.
D - 5
E - B
F - 6
G - waterpipe or coolant line
H - L
I - DO NOT USE (this is used to prevent cold starts etc..mainley used in canada )
J - DO NOT USE (this is used to prevent cold starts etc..mainley used in canada )
K -7
L - TO H
** if you have 2 outlets on your water pipe on the back of the motor...just plug one off..i swapped mine out for a single outlet tube off of a d15b2. MAKE SURE YOU GET NEW ORINGS FOR THE WATER TUBE!!!...you can plug it by just using a small piece of hose..slip it on and clamp it down..then put a bolt in the other end and clamp that down so they are snug and no fluid will come out of the extra outlet**

This is information that i received from Downest who took time out his day and called me with an answer. thanks dude i appreciate it a ton. if i misinterperted it please let me know, i will be hooking everything up tonight and turning the car over for the first time in 8 months. im excited.

Numbers
1,2,3,4 got deleted. 8 and 9 were deleted also. the spot where 9 plugs into ( i believe thats a coolant line) goes into the eacv.

The stock map sensor that is mounted to the firewall, unbolt it and throw that crap out. in my case i was able to hook my map sensor to the spot on my throttle body with my new map sensor.

Everything else gets capped off or deleted.

Once you have actually got the intake installed etc, you need to mount the throttle cable. i had a 92-96 civic throttle cable bracket which i just bent to work. see my pic.
itll look like this after

Once the manifold is installed, start connecting the lines as the above diagram showed. Plug each plug into its respective spot. You may want to lengthen the stock map sensor wires, just becuase they are very tight and short. lengthen them about 1-2 feet and then you can run the wires low and up the back side.

follow reinstall procedure from honda.

the line that isnt connected to anythingin this picture went to the water tube that runs behind the block...it had a spot for a hose to plug into..

THIS IS ALL THE STUFF I Took out

Video of it running..it was throwing a code 14 and 4 becuase of a wiring issue during the mpfi swap.
stock d15b2 with mpfi swap stock header and exhaust. no intake on it at this time.

yeah well i used the old iacv on the s2 im and its a little bigger than the obd1 iacvs so thats what might be causing the issue. even when i had one of the newer iacv it was still pretty close. close enough when i hit the throttle it would contact the firewall. i used the stock gasket btw but really i dont think its too serious of an issue

#29 ·
i just put mine on i got a si im already wired for mpfi. heres some pics if ya want some closer ones let me know. like where all the hoses go and **** ill post em up too if you need them

heres where the iacv hits the firewall its not much it doesnt look like it hits in the pic but it vibrates when its running and you can hear it but its not bad

i powdercoated the intake too storm gray and total all i spent on the whole im and parts was under 100 bucks

I wanna install my Skunk2 mani but i dont wanna have any idle problems with mine.I dont want the idle to be high or whatever.I have EVERYTHING need it for the install.Mine would go into my A6 tho.Importcustomx are you still having problems with the idle?

#31 ·
no idle issue, I solved that with with intake manifold gasket. Skunk2 manifold is not responsible for an idle issue..it was my fault during the install

and i show where all the hoses go in my how to...clearly labeled.

all you need for the 92-95 fuel rail is your crx injectors or whatever injectors your using, the 3 10mm bolts that hold the fuel rail on and the fpr off the fuel rail you took off and thats it. but i used fuel hose coming to the fuel rail off a 92-95 as well cause the stock one i had with the 92-95 fuel rail leaked for some reason, but switched the hoses and had no problem after that :)b

I dont think a dx has a fuel rail but autozone will kno wut i need.I cant put the TB on without it being open a lil.are you supposed to mod ur 92-95 TB? cus the thing that holds the cable is hitting the mani.

#37 ·
yeah you will have to switch to mpfi and you have to get a throttle cable bracket from a 92-95 as well but you have to bend it a little. thats what i had to do to mine. the only mods i did to the tb was remove the fast idle thing on the bottom of the tb and filled the holes with jb weld and it worked pretty good. i know if you go to the skunk2 website it list all the items needed as well as here.

I have all the parts I need including 92-95 civic stuff. What im asking is if you guys had to bend, sand etc the part on the TB that holds the throttle cable cause i cant bolt it on the mani unless i want my TB to be open all the time.
I will take pics and post tommorrow if needed.

your talking about the throttle cable bracket that bolts to the intake with 2 10mm bolts correct? i used the one off 92-95 civic im and yes i had to bend mine a little cause it held the throttle open and wouldnt let it close all the way. you might need a si throttle cable but not really sure as how i didnt have to swap to mpfi

Thx mike :)b
So i got the mani and TB on but now the white sensor(i think its the iat) wont go in the new mani cus the hole is threaded and on the old mani its not. :?

#41 ·
whtie sensor is it on the right side of the manifold next to the master cylinder? that sensor shouldnt be threaded unless the sensor you have is aftermarket if ya cant find the right one i know that piticular sensor is the rght one on a 92-95 civic and it doesnt screw in its accually got 2 screws that hold it in. if ya care and it isnt too much trouble upload some pics im sure i know exactly what your talkin bout.

Dude i have the same problem that you do with the white sensor lol.Wont go in like the hole is too small.Im just thinking of making it bigger. Also had the problem with the TB thing.I just grind it a bit.I got the Skunk2 Pro series.

#43 ·
your saying the little probe wont fit in the hole? if thats the problem i dont see why you couldnt drill the hole a little bigger but not much. it shoulda fit in the hole it is a kinda tight fit. if you do end up drilling the hole take tha manifold off to do so to keep the metal shavings from going to the motor. where that sensor is located it would be impossible to drill without the shavings getting in the motor. so just take it off and drill it if ya really have to and be sure to rinse the inside to be sure all the shavings are out :)b

Its the hole on the skunk2 mani thats threaded and the stock crx mani hold isnt.
am i supposed to use a 92-95 civic sensor?

#45 ·
you can use a 92-95..it will be easier..it will bolt up no problem..i might have en extra..i doubt it..but ill take a look

Yea well I cant get the stock one to fit so im gonna go to autozone to see if they have one and is the plug the same for them?

#51 ·
im pretty sure the iat sensor plugs should all be the same no matter what year if im not mistaken i used one off a z6 im. and i used my stock a6 injectors, you must have picked up some obd1 injectors from the accord but not sure i would just use some stock crx injectors unless you need to tune and ****
