Question about a new distributor d15b7 or y8?

So my 91 CRX has a minime swap on it. A d16y8 head on a d15b7.

I'm on my second replacement ICM. I'm thinking I just need a whole new distributor, but the one on there at the moment is from the d15b7.

Do I get a new distributor for a d15b7? Or one for a y8 like all the minime swap guides say?

Which one do you reccomend?

Edit: I will post pictures of it if anyone is so inclined to see it.

The y8, being a vtec head, distributor is very different from the b7 non-vtec dizzy. I'm not sure how you even have the b7 one mounted without noticing. Get the y8 distributor. :rolleyes1:

The post in your link makes some assumptions and can lead to bad info. It is accurate for the D16Z6 distributor, but not the Y8. The Y8 distributor and B7 distributor are functionally identical and either can work and do in fact bolt up the same way.

If the swap is operational and you just had a bad igniter/ICM, then it could be a simple case of parts store bad luck. If you replace the distributor I would lean toward a Y8 unit to simplify/match to the head, but like I said, either can work.

So an update:
Went through trouble getting a distributor. Mine ended up being a modified z6 one. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Upon inspecting mine after getting it all apart i noticed some of the wires for the icm were either corroded or had some bad connections. I replaced all the wires i could and got my ICM tested it was working fine.

After it was a good few days with this it all turned out to be bad connections and i didnt need a new distributor. Got my money back for the one i was gonna modify.

But thank you for the input and help. Much obliged.
